2011: A year for semi-indie pop/rock

      5. Grouplove - Never Trust a Happy Song

I saw these guys at a one day fest this year and they were great. The band hung out after the show with fans and friends, were extremely nice, and really cool. Great band and great music. Their single "Colours" will get stuck in anyone's head.

"I am a man man man man..."

4. Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

I know that this album didn't come out this year but it truly did for me. "Girlfriend" was one of my moat played this summer and I don't even know how long "1901" and "Lisztomania" played on the radio.

"Think less but see it grow..."

3. M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

Actually I was just introduced to this band. I like the neo-1982 sound. Rarely do I like a pretty-much instrumental sound but this is good. The band still hasn't caught on to US tastes, but from what I see this French experiment is holding it's own in Europe. Let's see where they go.

" Waiting in a car. Waiting for the right time. "

2. Foster the People - Torches

I absolutely LOVE this band and this debut album. Lucky enough, my local radio station was the first to play "Pumped Up Kicks". Now, here today, who hasn't heard that song?! Beautiful rhythm, catchy beats, and a unique lyric base, FTP has taken off since the release of Torches in 2010. I was lucky enough to meat Mark Foster and Mark Pontius last month. Both were down to earth and tired. Pontius was fairly unrecognized, talking with some local friends out in the open. Anyways, beautiful band, can't wait for their second album.

" I tie my hands up to a chair so I don't fall that way. "

1. The Strokes - Angles

Listen to it.
Enough said.
